The Truckee Fire Protection District's recent board meetings have been discouraging and dismaying. The board did vote to terminate a chief that had run amuck, but their attitude and abilities are far short of what is needed to adequately protect our property and lives during this period of cash shortage and increasing responsibilities. Some of the board members seem to think that their position is an entitlement.

It's time for a change for the better. Gerald Herrick is running for board member. Elect him and we'll get responsible fiscal management, support for our firefighters, dedication to the best interests of our community and oversight of the TFPD (now sorely lacking). Best of all, our citizens will know what is going on as opposed to the secrecy kept by the current board.
