The Truckee JV football team beat Dayton 58-8 on Saturday, already starting off with a perfect season, 1 for 1.
With 0 points in the first quarter, Truckee's Adam Morgan received the first touchdown in the second quarter, running 22 yards to help lead the team to 38 points before halftime.
Morgan also scored another TD in the third quarter. Graham Christian scored a total of five TDs, four rushing and one receiving, and finished with 185 yards. Jake Pettit scored two TDs as well on interceptions, both in the second quarter.
On defense, Truckee had seven fumble recoveries in the game, four by Jake Warn, two by Benito Gurrola and one by Brian Richey.
“The guys got out of the gates slow,” said Truckee head coach Tom Mohun. “Our kids were a little nervous at first but seemed to wake up a little bit in the second quarter.”
There were 10 turnovers and three interceptions, a total of 13 takeaways. Truckee's defense played an important part in the big win.
