Incline at North Tahoe basketball | Incline girls roll into postseason

TAHOE CITY — The Incline girls basketball team bounced back from its only league loss with a convincing 55-17 win at North Tahoe on Thursday.

The Highlanders then wrapped up the top seed in the Northern Division III with a 57-20 win at Silver Stage to end the regular season on Saturday.

Incline will enter the regional postseason at Battle Mountain on Friday as the No. 1 seed, at 13-1 in league play and 22-2 overall.

North Tahoe, struggling with injuries and limping to the finish line, was the unfortunate team to get the Highlanders after their only league loss — a 43-39 upset by Yerington last week.

Incline took control early, building a sizable lead in the first quarter that expanded to 34-10 by the half.

Senior guard Molly Franklin was on point for the Highlanders, hitting shots from inside and out en route to a 21-point performance and Player of the Game designation by her coach. She also had five rebounds, four assists and seven steals.

With a safe lead, 51-12, by the end of the third quarter, Incline coach Indra Winquest emptied his bench, which held its own against the young North Tahoe lineup.

Aside from senior leaders Angela Wood and Taylor Briggs and junior Savannah App, the Lakers ended the year with mostly underclassmen, including four freshmen. They finished 1-11 in league play.

Wood led the Lakers on Thursday, finishing with 10 points, while sophomore Mallory Tyler scored four points and freshman Jillian Argiris had two.

For Incline, senior Kortney Solis scored 10 points, Kira Porter and Kerrie Tonking contributed eight points apiece, and Elise Nelson and Krista Conn each scored four.
