Most dads agree, ribs and beer are good.
And anyone looking for a Father’s Day weekend event for their dad has a couple of rib and beer options in Truckee.
The ninth annual Truckee Brew Fest takes place 1-5 p.m. Saturday, June 14 at the Truckee River Regional Park.
The event, sponsored by the Truckee Optimist Club, features beers from more than a dozen breweries, including Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, Ninkasi Brewing, Lagunitas Brewing Company and FiftyFifty Brewing. Brew Fest also features music by the Buddy Emmer Blues Band, a longtime West Coast blues act.
Tickets to Brew Fest are $25 in advance and $30 at the door and available at Coffee Bar, Dickson Realty, Autoglass Express Truckee, Tuff Beanz and Optimist Club members.
The park is located at 10050 Brockway Road in Truckee. For more information call 530-587-8720 or visit www.truckeeoptimist.com.
Then, on Sunday, the fifth annual Father’s Day Truckee Ribfest and BBQ takes place.
Five restaurants will offer ribs for sale at the event, which also features a car show, raffle, a variety of vendors, a kid’s corner and live music from Ben Martin, Angele Thibodeaua and the Tahoe Truckee School of Music.
“There’s a little something for everybody,” said Ruth Geresy, the event coordinator and founder of the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Truckee – Tahoe. The Ribfest benefits the Relay for Life, which takes place July 19-20 at Truckee High School. Past Ribfests have raised about $5,000 for the Relay for Life, Geresy said.
As far as the ribs go, Six Peaks Grille, at the Resort at Squaw Creek, is the team to beat, she added.
Ribfest runs from 12-4 p.m. at the Tri Counties Bank Plaza at 12047 Donner Pass Road. Admission is free.
