Below are select incidents from the Truckee Police Department’s press log for June 24 to July 1, along with previously unreported incidents.

June 24

Officers responded to a residence on Boca View for a domestic dispute. It was determined no crime had occurred. Both parties separated voluntarily. Report was taken for information only.

June 25

Officers took a report for repossession of a vehicle. The vehicle was towed from impound yard. The owner is possibly aware.

Driver was stopped for moving violation and was found to be unlicensed and uninsured. The driver was cited and the vehicle was impounded.

Counter report was taken for a lost passport. Report was taken for information only.

A subject gained entry into a vehicle and stole approximately $3,000 worth of items from the vehicle. The subject was contacted and arrested.

June 26

Officers took a report of three-vehicle, non-injury collision.

A vehicle was stopped for moving violation. The driver was unlicensed, uninsured and in possession of drugs. The driver was cited.

Officers reported non-injury minor damage collision.

Officers took a report of single-vehicle traffic collision into telephone lines on Northwoods Boulevard.

Person reported their father was mentally unstable and was missing.

Officers conducted a follow up on a report of suspected child abuse. Report was taken for information only.

Truckee Police Canine Unit assisted California Highway Patrol with a traffic stop. A positive alert resulted in the discovery of bulk controlled substance. One male adult was arrested for drug trafficking charges.

Officers documented a theft of a front license plate of a vehicle. The owner of the vehicle received a photo citation from a vehicle with his license plate on it. Report was taken.

A driver was stopped for a California Vehicle Code violation. After completing field sobriety tests, the driver was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence and was booked in the Nevada County Jail.

June 27

Officers responded to a report of domestic violence and discovered a male suspect punched a female victim several times in the face resulting in injuries to the female. The male attempted to prevent officers from entering the home to check on the welfare of the female. The male was arrested for felony domestic violence and resisting arrest.

Traffic stop was conducted and the driver was arrested for DUI.

The victim of an assault phoned 911 reporting her husband had assaulted her and was armed with a gun. Officers responded to the residence on Sierra Drive and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Subject was reported to be possibly DUI and dragging an item from the vehicle. The vehicle was located and stopped for several vehicle code violations. The driver was arrested for DUI.

June 28

Reporting party witnessed a vehicle backing into fence causing minor damage to a fence on Palisades Drive. The driver left the scene and was stopped.

Officers took a report of identity theft possibly for purpose of employment. There is no suspect information.

Officers took a report of a dog locked in a vehicle on Northwoods Boulevard. It was determined the dog was distressed in hot conditions, which resulted in seizure from the vehicle and transportation to the shelter.

The driver of a motor vehicle was stopped for speeding. The driver displayed the objective symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol. Field sobriety tests were given and the driver was arrested for DUI.

A driver was stopped for a vehicle code violation and was arrested for DUI at a .20% BAC.

June 29

Subject’s vehicle broke down leaving him stranded at the Negro Canyon Trail Head. He was stranded for 3 days and was out of food and water. Emergency aid was provided.

Victim was having a garage sale and may have had a jack hammer stolen from the sale. The victim stated suspect paid him $75 for a router, but the suspect took the jack hammer. The suspect did express interest in the jack hammer during the agreement of $75 in payment for the other tool.

Subject was stopped for blocking the roadway. The subject was found intoxicated and was arrested.

A driver was stopped for California vehicle code violations. The driver displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol. After field sobriety tests were completed, the driver was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

June 30

Boyfriend and girlfriend were in a verbal dispute. The situation mediated and the parties were separated for the night.

Reporting party reported she left her purse in a shopping cart for ten minutes. When she returned to the shopping cart her purse was gone. Report was taken.
