Tahoe Mountain Sports will present a multi-part event, featuring a yoga class, a fashion show and a book swap to benefit the Kings Beach Library.
Co-owner of Tahoe Mountain Sports and Friends of Kings Beach Library treasurer Pam Jhanke organized the event.
“Usually in the spring at Tahoe Mountain Sports we do an event at the store and look for a non-profit partner,” Jhanke said. “This year when we were talking about it I knew that the library was celebrating their 25th anniversary (at their current location).”
The library is raising money to match funds allocated by Placer County for an interior remodel. A $10 donation is recommended, but not required, to attend the event. All of the proceeds go to the library, Jhanke said.
The yoga fashion show will be held at the North Tahoe Events Center. North Shore yoga instructor Shari Beard will be teaching the all-levels class.
“It’ll be for all levels,” Jhanke said. “She’ll do an introduction so everybody will feel comfortable even if they haven’t done yoga before.”
Following the yoga class will be a fashion show featuring clothing sold at Tahoe Mountain Sports. Raffle tickets are being sold in advance of the event as well as at the event. Prizes include items from brands like Smartwool, OluKai, Wigwam and Prana. Raffle ticket holders do no have to be present to win.
Attendees are encouraged to bring books to swap with each other or to donate to the library. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
The Kings Beach Library was founded in the 1940s. After moving locations several times, it found its current home in 1988. It’s grown to be very much a part of the community, Jhanke said.
“Every time I go to the library, it’s full,” she said. “It’s very used.”
