Incline swimming | Baldwin takes aim at school record in 200 freestyle

Incline High School swimmers arrived ready for the Sierra League Championships in Reno on Saturday.

Leading the charge was Jimmy Baldwin, nearing the school record in the 200-yard freestyle and finishing second with a time of 1:56.30. Nevertheless, Baldwin managed to win the 100 freestyle in 53.70, with William Marziliano winning the 500 free in 6:57.00.

However, the day belonged to the girls, as they defeated Hug, Sage Ridge and Sparks high schools. The girls also bagged a second-place finish against a powerful Damonte Ranch team in the 400 freestyle relay with Kerrie Tonking, Jordan Jones, Marcella Collins and Caroline Parkhill leading the charge.

“For a small team of swimmers, we certainly are getting a lot of positive attention after hosting three successful meets this year,” said Incline head coach Mike Kadi. “Our swimmers have also found an extra gear this spring and the future looks very bright for our aquatics program at Incline.”

The Highlanders will compete in the Northern regional meet this Friday in Carson City.
