Recent trends of lower prices at the pump have swept through the Silver State, decreasing the price per gallon by as much as 25 cents in some areas, according to the AAA Nevada monthly gas survey.
As of Tuesday, the average price in Nevada for regular unleaded gasoline is $3.54 a gallon, a decrease of 25 cents from the last AAA gas price release of April 12. Last month, the average price in Nevada was $3.74 per gallon. The only two metro areas paying more than last month are Carson City and Reno.
The highest gas price of the Nevada metro areas tracked by AAA is in Sparks. The average price in that metro area is $3.84 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Carson City has the Silver State’s lowest pump price found in metro areas tracked by AAA. Drivers in Carson City are paying an average price of $3.69.
In Incline Village, the community’s three gas stations posted gas prices Wednesday afternoon of $4.25 and $4.19 a gallon.
The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $3.58 — 12 cents less than the average price one year ago. The national average is currently 21 cents below the peak 2013 price to date of $3.79 on February 27. In 2011, the national average for regular unleaded gasoline peaked at $3.98 on May 5. In 2012 the price peaked at $3.94 on April 5 and 6.
