On Parle Français: Incline students take national French honors

Incline students have a lot to be proud of this year with five national winners in the National French Contest.

The National French Contest (Le Grand Concours) is an annual competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French. More than 95,000 students in grades 1-12, in all 50 states and abroad, took the test this year.

All examinations included written and listening portions, and those in the top 20th percentile at the elementary level progressed to a speaking competition.

Congratulations to: Tara Lincoln, senior, for fifth in the nation in first-year French; Bryan Banuelos, freshman, for sixth in the nation in first-year French; Valerie Pober, sophomore, for eighth in the nation in second-year French; and Jaret and Garen Cross, fifth-graders, for third and fourth in the nation, respectively, in the French for elementary school students Level 2B category.

All students are eligible — home school parents or private tutors can request information on participation from the nearest Chapter Administrator.

For information, contact Jeni Cross at Incline High School at jcross@washoeschools.net or visit www.frenchteachers.org/concours/.
