INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — With the countdown for Lake Tahoe’s biggest Fourth of July holiday celebration well under way, the officials at Red, White and Tahoe Blue — in collaboration with the Incline School Academic Excellence Foundation — recently selected winners of a new festival contest to design this year’s commemorative T-shirt.
Kylie Ludviksen, 11, of Incline Village took the grand prize for the best T-shirt artwork overall. Ludviksen attends Lake Tahoe School and entered her art in the Grade 3-5 Division.
She was awarded a new iPad Mini, a $50 iTunes card and commemorative T-shirt.
“I totally didn’t expect to win,” said Ludviksen, who has her sights set on a career in art.
Other finalists included students from the Washoe County School District, with Lauren Sandberg representing the K-2 Division; Taylor Stapleton representing Grades 6-8; and Hadyne Schuft from the High School Division.
All finalists received a $50 iTunes Cards and commemorative T-shirt.
The T-shirts are now on sale throughout Incline Village at Dress the Part(y), Hyatt Provisions Retail Store, IV Coffee Lab, The Potlatch and the Incline Village Visitors Center.
Axis Apparel provided the shirts to the festival at cost, according to RWTB. Proceeds will help the nonprofit continue to provide events for locals and visitors alike each year during the Fourth of July holiday.
“We were happy to have the opportunity to donate to the community, said Tony Tartaglio, of Axis Apparel, which specializes in custom imprinted items for all occasions.
Kathie Goldberg and Susan Herron from ISAEF orchestrated the contest, which is expected to be an annual event. ISAEF is a nonprofit organization that supports students, teachers and parents in the Incline Village school system through tutoring, scholarships and its Endowment Program.
