It is with deep and profound sorrow that the family and friends of Ryan Michael Erion announce his passing on Monday, July 8, 2013 at his home in Truckee, CA.
Ryan was born on June 11, 1976 in Seattle, WA. He attended grade school through high school in San Diego, CA, graduating from Torrey Pines High School in 1994. He later attended Chico State (1995-1997), before finding Tahoe in 1998. Ryan had a passion for snowboarding which led him to pursue a career as a elite private snowboarding coach. In 2009, Ryan and his partner, Scott Harris, established a non-profit called Tahoe Select Snowboard Team, whose mission is to promote greatness and skill at championship levels in the competitive snowboarding circuit. He lived his dream.
Ryan is predeceased by his father, Michael Erion. Ryan is survived by his mother, Connie Erion, his brother, Brett Erion, sister-in-law, Nikki Ahrens, and nephews, Dylan and little Ry Ry (named after his Uncle Ryan); by his grandparents, Dick & Lucille Carmichael, and Bob & Joan Erion; and by his aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
On Saturday, July 27th, 2013 @ 12 pm a “Celebration of Life” Float will be held at the Truckee River Walking Bridge. At this time, we will say goodbye with an intimate ceremony for Ryan, and then float the river, in his honor, to Olympic Heights, just past Truckee Falls. The following day, Sunday, July 28th, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm @ the Truckee Amphitheater, we will be hosting a more formal memorial service. This will be a heartfelt day, and more importantly, another opportunity to say farewell to an irreplaceable man and an inspiring soul.
Donations may be applied to the Ryan Erion Memorial Fund at Wells Fargo Bank.
RIP Ryan Michael Erion, you are so loved, and you will live on forever in the memories of all those that were lucky enough to share moments, visions, dreams, aspirations, bluebird days to powder days, and love and laughter, with you.
