TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. — Northstar California Resort announced the appointment of Loryn Kasten, a 13-year public relations professional, to senior communications manager for the resort effective Monday, July 22.
“We are thrilled to have Loryn join the Lake Tahoe team,” said Bill Rock, chief operating officer for Northstar. “Her extensive public relations experience in the resort and ski industry will allow Loryn to immediately contribute at a high level and effectively tell the Northstar story.”
Kasten joins Northstar California after five years as the public relations manager at Steamboat Ski Resort, where she was instrumental in the day-to-day public relations activities for the resort, acquiring media exposure both domestically and internationally. Prior to Steamboat, Kasten served as the communications director at Durango Mountain Resort for five years and communications coordinator at Snowshoe Mountain Resort in West Virginia for two years. She began her career at Ski Magazine and 97.3 KBCO radio station in Boulder, Colo.

Kasten will be responsible for overseeing the public relations department for Northstar, including serving as a spokeswoman for the resort, planning and executing public relations initiatives, facilitating media outreach, overseeing media databases and working with the Vail Resorts corporate communications team.
An avid skier, Kasten was born and raised in Colorado and graduated from the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Colorado, Boulder with a Bachelor of Science in News Editorial, Public Relations.
