Truckee High School Band syncs performances, fundraisers

TRUCKEE, Calif. — Truckee High School Band students have worked hard on fine tuning their performance skills. They entertain spectators at varsity home football games in the pre-game flag salute and march during the half-time show; rally support for their home team at basketball games; and the marching band has lead the Homecoming Parade through Truckee to Surprise Stadium.

Support their efforts and attend the annual fall concert Thursday, Nov. 7, featuring jazz and symphonic music in the THS auditorium. The show starts at 7 p.m. and admission is free.

Joining the high school musicians will be band students from Alder Creek Middle School. They will perform both on their own and with high school students for several numbers.

Light refreshments will be available for purchase at the event. Funds raised help finance many of the band’s programs, including the annual spring band tour, participation in honor bands, workshops and summer scholarships programs.

Mark your calendars for two exciting upcoming fundraising events.

Slide on down to the Bar of America on Tuesday, Nov. 12 for a Jazz Concert. Listen to some great music as you dine, with a portion of the evening’s proceeds benefiting the band. Also, look out for more information coming soon about the ever-popular annual talent show, slated for Friday, Dec. 13.
