Afrolicious frees the funk at the North Shore

A long-running Bay Area party will make its way to the North Shore this week when Afrolicious performs a free show at the Crystal Bay Casino Monday.

“San Francisco’s live and electronic dance scene have never been the same since Afrolicious formed as a hybrid DJ and live band collective over 7 years ago,” according to a press release from the band. “In that time the project has developed numerous talent that has gone on to push the boundaries of global funk. In the last year Afrolicious has performed at some of the most legendary venues in America including Red Rocks and The Greek Theatre and released a full length album and high profile remixes for the likes of Thievery Corporation and Novalima.”

The live collective will perform as a 10-piece during its Crystal Bay show.

“Afrolicious has established itself as both one of the most legendary weekly parties in San Francisco, and of the top live/electronic bands on the scene. Started as a weekly dance party featuring DJ’s and brothers Pleasuremaker and Señor Oz alongside percussionists, MC’s and horn players, and an amazing crowd from day one. Over the years it has evolved as founding DJ/Producer Pleasuremaker (Joe McGuire) alongside brother Señor Oz (Oz McGuire) hooked up with some of the most exciting personalities in the Bay Area music scene and started writing original music under the alias Afrolicious.”
