North Tahoe wildfire 100 percent contained

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — The first wildfire in the Sierra broke out early this morning at North Lake Tahoe.

Firefighters responded to the half-acre fire in heavy vegetation on U.S. Forest Service land in the Allison subdivision of Incline Village at 2:30 a.m. Friday, according to a press release from the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District.

No structures were threatened. The fire near the Mt. Rose summit was 100 percent contained by 4:30 p.m., said NLTFPD spokeswoman Rancourt.

The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit has control of the incident.

The fire’s cause is under investigation. Anyone with information should contact NLTFPD Assistant Fire Marshal, Mark Regan at 775-461-6200.
