National Geographic TV show has Tahoe flavor

The National Geographic TV show “The Legend of Mick Dodge” highlights Dodge’s unique relationship to the wilderness and the underlying philosophy found in a fitness practice called “The Earthgym,” created by Dodge and local resident Jacquie Chandler.

In the mountains of Tahoe and rainforest of Washington, the design and the development of this primal, practical and playful practice continues to evolve and inspire.

Chandler has taught Earthgym and Primal Design classes at Sierra Nevada College. She designed and crafted most of the garments Mick wears in the TV show.

She also is the co-founder of Sustainable Tahoe, a local nonprofit actively facilitating geotourism, which, like the Earthgym, inspires fun, personal and respectful connection with our natural habitat.

An “Earth Bar” has been set up to share episodes at Tunnel Creek Station, next to Ponderosa Ranch. The next event takes place Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 4 p.m. there.

“The Earth Bar is a way to share the show, talk directly with Mick via a video call, craft something inspired by seeing the show and share your own wilderness experience,” Chandler said.

For more information, contact Chandler at 775 298-2333 or earthgym@yahoo.com, or visit www.TheEarthgym.com.
