Skier died from head injury at Squaw



A 27-year-old man died from a blunt-force trauma head injury as a result of skiing accident Friday at Squaw Valley USA.

According to the Washoe County Coroner’s Office, Kelsey Brown suffered the fatal head injury May 10. A “standard investigation” is being conducted, according to Savannah Cowley, spokeswoman for Squaw Valley Ski Corp.

According to a statement released by Squaw, Brown suffered the injury while in the Mainline area. A supervisor radioed ski patrol at approximately 12:45 p.m. Ski patrol was on the scene immediately and rendered aid until Care Flight paramedics arrived.

Brown was taken by Care Flight helicopter to Washoe Medical Center in Reno, where he died.
