Truckee utility to interview interim GM applicants

Directors for the Truckee Donner Public Utility District board will interview three candidates for the job of interim general manager at a special meeting Monday evening.

With General Manager Peter Holzmeister retiring on Aug. 16 and the selection of a permanent replacement at least 90 days away, the board has called a special meeting at 6 p.m. Monday to begin to find a temporary manager.

The directors have reviewed the resumes of the three candidates who filed an application by the district deadline of July 17.

After Monday’s interviews, the board will consider the applicants’ qualifications and select an interim general manager.

Once the choice is made, board President Tim Taylor will negotiate the contract for the individual who will serve until a permanent general manager is hired.

Two of the individuals — Eldon Cotton of Santa Monica and John Ulrich of Boulder, Colo. — were referred to the board by the Northern California Power Agency. The third applicant, Truckee resident Dan Warren, applied independently.

Cotton has experience with the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power, John Ulrich served as the director of utilities for the city of Palo Alto and Warren has held a management position with Northstar at Tahoe since 1997.
