Nearly 40 skiers and riders participated the third annual Sessions Lumberjack Log Jam in the Riviera Park at Squaw Valley USA on Saturday.
The unique slopestyle contest was open to sponsored amateur skiers and snowboarders and featured a natural terrain park setup complete with log rides, tree bonks and a triple jump line.
Each competitor took two preliminary runs to determine the five skiers and five snowboarders who would make the final round. Locals dominated the prelims, taking three of the five final-round berths in both skiing and snowboarding.
All the athletes cranked it up for the two-run final round some rode away cleanly to podium positions, others fell victim to going too big.
Fully impressed by clean inverted spins and a wicked wildcat (backflip) off a log ride, the judges chose Truckee local Chris Bosco as the mens snowboarding champion.
Reno local Zach Steele took first amongst the skiers by tossing a barrage of clean 720s and 900s down the jump line.
Other local top finishers were Jonny Lazzareschi, Johnny Brady, Ben West Morecan and Alex Dorszynski.
