U14 Strikers win soccer tournament

Print Comment
Edmonds Field in Carson City was the battle grounds for the annual Comstock Shootout. And the Strikers, a U14 boys team from the Sierra Mountain Soccer Club, drew a difficult schedule.

The first morning the Strikers played the Richmond Rayos. Despite the Strikers’ early lead, the Richmond Rayos made a quick comeback, pulling to within one goal, 4-3, before the final whistle blew.

Later that afternoon the Strikers skunked the Jaguars 95 by a score of 4-0.
On the second day of the tournament, the Strikers had to go through the SPSSC Guerreros to make it to the championship.

Play was fast and furious on both sides, but the Strikers came out on top, 2-1, to set up a championship game against the Carson Patriots.

Having played them before, the Strikers knew they had to be on their game to pull off the win. And they were, defeating the Patriots 2-1.

The Strikers roster includes Ben Brown; Austin Ferriera; Jacob Lewis; Nash McMullen; Reed McMullen; Trent McMullen; Travis Glander; Austin Griffin; Tyler Griffin; Zach Pearson; Andre Tsaniff; Michael Reynaud; Colton Roderique; Austin Simonpietri; Fernando Rodriguez; Irvan Somera; Omar Valdivia; and Eric Ojeda.
