Readers Write: Bypass for KB

Print Comment
Hello, this is a concerned resident. I travel all around the Basin. I have watched the changes in the region over the past decades as I was born and raised in Truckee. Problem! Kings Beach needs more than a modification to the way traffic flows through that area. I am surprised there have not been more traffic studies as far as how it will affect the streets off of the main road. I believe the back roads will handle the overflow, thus causing a greater danger in the neighborhoods where families are not always afraid of lots of cars not familiar with the area, all to make a shortcut. How will that affect the property values? Will the residents be satisfied? I suggest you look at traffic flow year round. I bet you will find much more congestion and irritated drivers after all is said and done. I suggest we build another bypass above Kings Beach, which ties in with the state line. I will survey the area via Goggle Earth. I am sure there is a eco- friendly way to make that short cut to the state line. Make life easy for the locals and the visitors. Plus the area around Kings Beach would then become more stable and much safer. Safety first, right?
