Arst's bathing bear photo received the most reader recommendations, earning her a three-day/two-night vacation package for two to one of 70 resorts across the country.
Here's the backstory to the bathing bear:
I took the photo just a few weeks ago. I live right on Summit Creek (west end of Donner Lake) and saw the bear through the sliding glass door. I ran out to the dock with my camera. Mama bear was enjoying a bath and her cub was up on the bank. I took a few photos and decided the best angle was from the next dock over. In the few seconds it took me to get over there, mama bear got out, shook off, and was gone!
