No fire weather for Truckee Tahoe

Print Comment
While a fire watch has been issued on the western slope, meteorologists predict quiet weather in the Truckee Tahoe area.

While highs are predicted to reach the upper 80s by Friday, Ray Collins, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Reno said lighter winds and higher humidity mean no fire watch or red flag warnings are expected this week.

“By Friday we may see a little moisture working its way up the Sierra,” Collins said. “There is a slight chance of isolated thunder storms, but that’s mostly south of Lake Tahoe.”

The clouds and isolated thunderstorms predicted for Friday afternoon could also form Saturday, he said.

Winds are expected to remain light for boaters and visitors over Labor Day Weekend, Collins said.
