Disc golf tourney

The second annual Tahoe Mountain Sports Disc Golf Tournament will be held at North Tahoe Regional Park on Aug. 30-31. The tournament will feature professional and amateur disc golfers. There will be four rounds with 124 participants followed by a barbecue and beer party. Visit www.tahoemountainsports.com for more information.

Tahoe Rim Trail hike

Experience the Tahoe Rim Trail on a free guided hike from Kingsbury Grade North toward Spooner Summit on Aug. 30. This 4- to 5-mile out and back hike offers panoramic views of Lake Tahoe. Children should be over 7 years old, and dogs should be left at home. Meet at Kingsbury North trailhead at 9 a.m.; space is limited. LUNA Chix ride

Join the Tahoe Luna Chix for a women’s-only road ride to Boca Reservoir on Sept. 2. The group will meet at 5:45 p.m. Road bikes are required. This easy, no-drop ride welcomes riders of all skill levels. To get there: Exit Interstate 80 at Hirshdale Road, head north on Hirshdale Road across the railroad tracks and park in the first parking lot on the right-hand side of the road. Flag football

The Truckee-Donner Recreation & Park District is offering its flag football league from Sept. 8-Oct. 17, Monday through Friday, from 3:30-5 p.m. at Meadow Park or Glenshire Elementary. Cost is $75. Call 582-7720 to register.

Fall basketball league

The Truckee-Donner Recreation & Park District is offering a fall basketball league starting Sept. 23 and continuing on Tuesday and Thursday evenings through December. The league will have two divisions — “A” league plays on mostly Thursday evenings and “B” league mostly on Tuesdays. Cost is $275 per team due at sign up. The season will consist of 8 games and playoffs, with games at Alder Creek Middle School from 6-9 p.m. For more information please call 582-7720.

Adult gymnastics

My Playground is starting a new gymnastics class for adults to be held on Tuesdays at 6:15 p.m. at its Pioneer Commerce Center studio starting Sept. 1. No experience is required. This one-and-a-half hour class teaches body alignment, tumbling, bar, balance beam, vault, rings and Acrosports. Learn how to use your physical structure to support your weight both vertically and when inverted. The class provides a moderate aerobic workout and a significant anaerobic workout. 3-on-3 hoops league

The Truckee-Donner Recreation & Park District is offering a 35-and-older 3-on-3 winter basketball league and an open 3-on-3 league. The season is scheduled to begin Oct. 1 and continue on Wednesday evenings through December. The league will have two divisions, both playing on Wednesday nights from 6-9 p.m, and will consist of at least eight games. Cost is $140 per team due at sign up. Games will be played at Alder Creek Middle School. For more information call 582-7720.

Free hunter education

A free hunter education class will be held at the PUD boardroom Sept. 4, 5 and 11 from 6-9:30 p.m. Ten hours of class time is required to receive a certificate, which is needed in most states to obtain a hunting license. Students under the age of 12 are advised to bring a parent with them. Space is limited. Call Tom, Pam or Doug at 587-4844 to sign up.

Drop-in basketball

The Truckee-Donner Recreation & Park District is offering adult drop-in basketball for $3 per player year-round on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Veterans Building in downtown Truckee from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. There will also be drop-in basketball at Alder Creek Middle School on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. from Sept. 9–18. Fall softball league

The Truckee-Donner Recreation & Park District is offering a coed and men’s fall softball league. The seasons will run nine games from Sept. 8-Oct. 9. Games will be played on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with playoffs included. Cost for a coed team is $225 with additional player fees of $70. The cost for a men’s team is $275 with additional player fees of $70. Regular season and new teams are encouraged to sign up. Registration will be taken through August. LUNA Chix ride

Join the Tahoe Luna Chix for a women’s-only road ride on the Sawtooth Trail in Truckee on Sept. 16. The group will meet at 5:45 p.m. This is an easy to moderate ride. To get there from Truckee: At the 7-Eleven on Brockway Road turn onto Ponderosa Palisades Road, take a right on Silver Fir and a left on Thelin.
