Forest Charter School recently moved to a new facility in Truckee. Check out the new Forest office in Truckee is located at 10775 Pioneer Trail, Building B, suite 211C. FCS personnel can be reached at 550-7205, ext. 21.

The school has provided personalized learning opportunities for students in the Tahoe/Truckee area since 2003.

Forest is WASC accredited and is a California Charter Schools Association certified public charter school with its graduates attending Dartmouth, UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Davis, UNR and other institutes of higher learning.

In addition to the academic success of its students, Forest Charter School’s personalized learning structure supports students as they embark on diverse journeys ranging from studying for a black belt to traveling to India to shoot a documentary on the Dali Lama to becoming the Junior World Ski Champion.

As a California Charter School, Forest in Tahoe/Truckee is fully funded through local property taxes, similar to Tahoe Truckee School District. These local property taxes provide for the education of local students with local educators.

Forest is authorized under “The Charters Schools Act of 1992.” This act provides opportunities for teachers, parents, pupils and community members to establish and maintain schools that operate independently from the existing school district structure, as a method to provide pupils and families with expanded choices within the public school system.
