Truckee Ice Rink season passes

The Truckee-Donner Recreation & Park District is selling season passes to the Truckee Ice Rink this season. Children’s passes are $25 for TDRPD residents and $25 for adults. Non-district passes for adults and children are $45. Passes may be purchased at the Community Center office on Church Street. The rink is open on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3-8 p.m., Fridays from 3-9 p.m., Saturdays from 1–9 p.m. and Sundays from noon–8 p.m. It will be open seven days a week during Christmas from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Daily admission is $3 for District children, $4 for District adults and $5 for non-District children and adults. Cross Country Ski program for kids

The Auburn Ski Club is hosting an orientation meeting about its weekend Cross Country Skiing Program called Super Sliders on Sunday, Dec. 7 at 1 p.m. The program is for children ages 4-12. Ski equipment will be available for lease. The club house and trails are located at the far west end of Boreal’s parking lot. The Super Sliders and The Sonic Race Team meets Saturdays from Dec. 13 (depending on snow) through March. Call 426-3313 or go to www.auburnskiclub.org for more information.

NASTC course

Truckee’s North American Training Center (NASTC) is offering its Early Season Jumpstart Course at Squaw Valley from Dec. 6-10. Get your skiing legs back by working with PSIA Demo Team members in small groups in all conditions and terrain. Afternoon video review and dinners at local restaurants are also included. Homewood youth lift tickets

For the 10th straight winter Homewood is offering students from the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District lift tickets for $7 Sunday through Friday, valid from 1-4 p.m. and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Wednesdays, as part of its Local Student Lift Ticket Program. Homewood is also offering youth and teen season passes for $149 (ages 5-12) and $199 (ages 13-18), as well as free lift tickets for local high school honor roll students. To qualify, a students must either achieve a 3.75 grade point average or a 3.5 with perfect attendance.

Youth hoops

The Tahoe City Public Utility District Parks and Recreation Department is taking registration for its Les Miller Youth Basketball League until Dec. 19. The program is open to boys and girls in Kindergarten through eighth grade. Practices will be held weekdays after school. League games will be held at Rideout Community Center, Incline Village and Kings Beach. Coaches and sponsors are needed for each team. Participation fee is $75 or $80 for non residents. Strider Glider XC ski

Register for the 10th Anniversary of the Strider Glider After-School Ski Program. The eight-week, after-school cross-country ski program stretches from Jan. 5 through March 6 from 3:30-4:45 p.m. Cost is $80. This includes eight days of instruction and season rental equipment. Registration for new participants is by mail-in or drop-off only at Tahoe Cross Country Ski Area. Forms are available online and at the ski area. Space is limited. Boys gymnastics

My Playground in Truckee is offering new gymnastics classes for boys ages 6-10, working on skills specific for boys gymnastics such as strength, flexibility, balance and coordination. Boys will learn skills on floor, horizontal bars, vault, rings and trampoline. Classes are held at My Playground in the Pioneer Commerce Center on Thursdays at 3:30 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. For more information call 587-7404.

Adult gymnastics

My Playground in Truckee is offering a new adult gymnastics class, with no experience required. This hour-and-a-half class offers a superior warm-up, including stretches and traditional floor work. Emphasis is on body alignment, tumbling, bar, balance beam, vault, rings and Acrosports. The class provides a moderate aerobic workout, a significant anaerobic workout and the fun of obtaining new gymnastic skills. Classes are held at My Playground in the Pioneer Commerce Center on Tuesdays at 6:15 p.m. For more information call 587-7404.

Drop-in hoops

The Truckee-Donner Recreation & Park District is offering adult drop-in basketball for $3 per player year-round on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Veterans Building in downtown Truckee from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Call 582-7720.
