An immature bald eagle in Truckee in December.
The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit is coordinating the annual mid-winter bald eagle count Friday, Jan. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon, and is looking for public participation.
Last January a total of 10 bald eagles eight adults and two immature were counted in the Tahoe Basin.
The count will help estimate national and regional bald eagle wintering populations.
The National Wildlife Federation started the count in 1979.
For more information, contact Rena Escobedo with the Forest Service at 543-2733.
