South Shore off-roaders rescued after night stuck in snow

Print Comment
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE — There was a happy ending for four people stuck in the snow Saturday night and into Sunday morning.

A caller from Banner Quaker Hill reported four people in a green Jeep Cherokee were stuck in the snow at about 2:15 a.m. Sunday.

They had no food or water and only had a blanket. They were not dressed for the conditions.

CHP officers searched for the vehicle but could not make it up Chalk Hill Road due to the snow. Four Search and Rescue volunteers on snowmobiles were sent to look for the Jeep, which they found about one mile east of Highway 20 at about 6 a.m.

The people in the Jeep declined medical attention.
