SIERRAVILLE A small lightning fire started Monday evening has been contained near Sierraville. No property was destroyed. No injuries were reported.
Called the Dark Fire, the blaze was reported at 8:30 p.m. about two miles west of Sierraville Monday, May 25, according to Mary Furney, a spokesperson for Tahoe National Forest.
Three crews and an engine contained the fire at about 3 acres by 1 p.m. on Tuesday, and have had a helicopter on standby in case of a flare up, Furney said. She said fire crews in the eastern Sierra are expecting similar conditions this afternoon as thunderheads build.
