KINGS BEACH Placer County officials responded Tuesday to an environmental incident in Kings Beach, where afternoon downpours washed asphalt sealant into the water system.
The waterproof sealant was being applied to the Gold Crest Motel parking lot, but did not have time to dry before the rains arrived, said Jill Pahl, director of environmental health for Placer County.
Pahl said the sealant pooled in depressions in natural drainage features. Clean-up crews were able to put sand on it and keep most if not all of it from reaching the lake, she said.
