Truckee Chili cookoff tickets still available

Spice up your weekend

TRUCKEE, Calif. — Tickets are still available for the Truckee Chili Cookoff to be held Sunday, June 28, at Truckee Regional Park. Tickets for unlimited chili tasting are $10 for adults and children under 12 are free.

Tickets are available from the Truckee Donner Chamber in the old Depot, California Land Title, 10800 Donner Pass Road, Suite 105, any Sunrise Rotarian and on the event Web site, www.TruckeeChiliCookoff.org.

Tickets will also be available at the event.

This community fundraiser will provide a day of family fun with chili tasting, non-stop entertainment, food and beverages and a host of activities for adults and children alike.

The Railroad Regulators will attend along with local favorite folk-rock guitarist/singer/songwriter Bud Worrell who will entertain Contestants and early arrivals with his music until the opening at 11 a.m.

The Sierra Mountainaires, the men's barbershop group, specializing in harmony, comedy and generally great entertainment, will open the show.

Pleasant Heads, the popular country-modern band from Reno, and the Red Devil Rhythm Section featuring The Reverend B. Wright and special guest star “One Foot Johnson” will entertain the crowd.

The area's best chili cooks will compete for top honors in these categories: Restaurants, Nonprofits and Individuals plus Best Overall. In addition, a People's Choice award will recognize the chili garnering the most votes from attendees and there will be an award for best cooking team theme.

A panel of area dignitaries will judge the chili and make the awards.

All proceeds benefit Truckee-North Tahoe programs addressing the needs of youth, economically disadvantaged and elderly. The Truckee Sunrise Rotary Club has been supporting our community since 1993.
