TRUCKEE — OB's Dick Howell is back downtown and in a restaurant, now as Dragonfly's general manager.
Howell, who ran OB's Pub and Restaurant from 1978 until last May, closed the downtown icon as rental rates increased.
“I am very excited to be back on Commercial Row, making new friends and renewing old friendships,” Howell said. “I'm looking forward to re-entering the Truckee community on many levels.”
Dragonfly Chef and Owner Billy McCullough brought Howell on for his years of experience, finely-honed customer service skills, his affable personality and his ability to bring in the locals. Many Truckee area locals are aware that Dick lives on the Truckee River. Howell says with a smile he is thrilled he can still walk to work and his walk is now a bit shorter (by several buildings) than it was previously. Howell looked for work as far away as Colorado and interviewed for jobs in Reno before landing the Dragonfly GM position.
“Dick and I are like-minded when it comes to our ideas about community involvement,” McCullough said. “I am honored to have someone with such extensive restaurant management experience. Dick is basically a celebrity GM in the region.”
