Letter to the editor: Recall effort disappoints

I'm sadly disappointed in the actions of the group trying to recall three school board members. It's one thing to want to share opinions with those interested, but they're going too far when they accuse folks at the Post Office (which is illegal), and generally ruin peaceful family gatherings by bringing anti-integration and anti-democratic views to events like kids' baseball games and music on Common's Beach.

Besides those unsettling actions, most of the information they're giving is incorrect generating unsubstantiated fear.

I wonder how many people signed the petition just to get someone out of their face?

I wonder how many people at the beach concert signed the petition because they were under the influence of alcohol? I wonder how many people who signed the petition actually know what they signed?

Remember, it's easy enough to get people (thousands as a matter of fact) to sign a petition banning water by clever spinning of facts. Because of that, I never sign a petition without going home, checking facts then making a decision.

I hope the recall folks will reflect on their actions and put the communities best interest ahead of their own and let us enjoy our outings peacefully.
