Transform fear into compassion
Phagyab Rinpoche is a Tibetan lama from Kham, Eastern Tibet. In a presentation Aug. 8, 2 p.m., at For Goodness Sake in downtown Truckee, Rinpoche will offer instructions on how to transform the challenges, fears and concerns we face into powerful tools to develop wisdom, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to universal wellbeing. A survivor of torture, Rinpoche brings years of experience in facing aggression and hostility with kindness to his teaching. BloodSource blood donors get a free t-shirt
All blood donors at Tahoe City will receive a free t-shirt. Blood Source blood donors give hope to accident victims, surgery patients, cancer patients and many others in need like little Georgia Fuller. She was born with a heart defect and needed blood transfusions to make it through a rough beginning. As little as three teaspoons of blood can save a baby's life. Now, she laughs and plays, bringing joy to her family thanks to the gift of generous blood donors. Help patients like Georgia. Women's Empowerment Drumming Workshop. Aug. 22, 1 p.m., For Goodness Sake. Experience the creativity and power of the drum. Before the drum was created in Africa, women created rhythm while they worked to pass the time more joyfully. Broscoe of will teach fundamental techniques of West African djembe and dunnun drums, while presenting the history and culture of drumming. Cost: $30 with your own djembe, $35 with rented drum.
