OLYMPIC VALLEY, Calif. — The cause of a three-axle truck versus vehicle collision that killed a Tahoma resident Tuesday is still under investigation.
The truck drifted into oncoming traffic on Highway 89 South near Squaw Valley Road Tuesday morning, striking a vehicle and killing the driver, identified Thursday by the Placer County Sheriff's Office Coroners as Janice Roseberry, 42, of Tahoma.
The name or status of the truck driver, who was flown by Careflight to Renown Medical Center in Reno, is unknown, as CHP is still taking witness statements and investigating the cause of the crash, said Officer Steve Skeen.
A third vehicle swerved to avoid the accident, sideswiping a fourth, Skeen told the Sierra Sun Tuesday, and the driver of the third vehicle was taken by ambulance to Tahoe Forest Hospital, while the driver of the fourth refused medical treatment.
The accident kept Highway 89 closed for about four hours Tuesday.
