Breastfeeding support group meetings
Hands-on support for new moms and their infantsWeekly, Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon. Informal classes with emphasis on individual teaching for the nursing couplet. Get help with proper breastfeeding techniques, positioning the infant, “latch-on” techniques, sore nipples, engorgement, increasing your milk supply, breast pumps and nipple shields, postpartum issues, bottle feeding, infant nutrition and parenting issues. Lamaze-based prepared childbirth classes
Childbirth is an exciting time in your family's life. Preparing for the delivery of your new baby is an important step. Prepared childbirth classes at Tahoe Forest Center for Health & Sports Performance will give you the tools to enjoy the birth experience and welcome baby into your home. Classes are taught by Registered Nurses and/or Certified Childbirth Educators and provide information specific to delivery at Tahoe Forest Hospital.Classes include Labor and Delivery: Signs, symptoms and stages of labor. Practice using the birthing ball, relaxation and breathing techniques. Pain medication options are also covered. Birth Video viewed. Newborn Care: Includes hand-on swaddling, diapering and burping! Pediatrician: Meet the pediatrician and see slides of normal newborn appearance and behavior. Also Breastfeeding, Car Seat Safety Presentation, Home Proofing and Accident Prevention, Choking and Basic CPR Instruction (certification available by attending separate infant/child CPR course).
