The Tahoe Truckee Flyfishers, a local club dedicated to furthering the sport of fly fishing within our community, is holding its Annual Fundraising Dinner at the Cedar House in Truckee on Friday, Oct. 16. The event begins at 6 p.m.
The Tahoe Truckee Flyfishers are a very active group within the Federation of Flyfishers, the international organization of clubs that focus on fly fishing. They were one of the first clubs to start a Trout in the Classroom program for our local schools, the first club in Northern California to begin a fly fishing merit badge program for the Boy Scouts of America, and annually sponsor a program called the Cliff Frazier Youth program through the Truckee-Donner Recreation & Park District.
The fly fishers have also been active in supporting local conservation groups such as the Truckee River Watershed Council with contributions and volunteer support during their Truckee River Days, the Truckee Trout Fund and other conservation groups such as Trout Unlimited, the Federation of Fly Fishers and California Trout.
The Annual Dinner is a fundraising effort for the club. Each year it is a great event for the fly fisher. Whether you are new to the sport or a very experienced angler, the local club has something for everyone.
The evening promises to have a great dinner, and some great silent auction and raffle items. So far some of the items include a Winston Boron II-MX 5 weight fly rod, Lamson Guru 1.5 fly reel, numerous guided fly fishing trips, flies tied by local tyers, books, fly lines and many other items.
Pre-registration for the event is highly encouraged since the it will be capped at 75 people this year. This event is open club members, guests and the general public. Cost is $40 in advance and $45 at the door — if any spots remain.
Go to www.ttff.net to download a copy of the Annual Dinner registration form and mail it back to 10356 Donner Pass Rd., Suite B, Truckee, CA 96161. For more information call (530) 587-7110.
The event is filling up fast, so do not delay and reserving a spot at this great annual event that helps support many worthwhile things that the local club does during the year. The money raised here will go to further our area's fishing future.
