Winter Carnival: North Lake Tahoe's SnowFest seeks new events

SnowFest is looking for new events for the 29th Annual North Lake Tahoe/Truckee Festival. The 10-day winter carnival celebration is scheduled for Friday, March 5 through Sunday March 14, 2010.

A long-standing tradition throughout the North Lake Tahoe community, SnowFest provides winter fun on and off the slopes for local residents and visitors, and is produced through sponsorships from local businesses, corporate sponsors and the support of the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association. This year's event, themed “The Happiest Time at Tahoe,” is expected to draw thousands of attendees.

Last year's SnowFest featured 60 events including a torchlight parade, laser show and fireworks at Squaw Valley, U.S.A, community parades in Tahoe City and Kings Beach, the Polar Bear Swim, snow sculpting, wacky winter bowling, tricycle races and the ever-popular dog pull. The festival has events for everyone, even educational and arts related. There is a luau and a Mardi Gras party, fastest bar server race and a bar triathlon.

The organization is recruiting new events. Any business, non-profit organization, or individual in the North Lake Tahoe/Truckee area can host an event. It can be music related, a sports activity, something wild and wacky or sophisticated. It can be for kids or adults or animals. The purpose of the event can be to market your business or raise funds in support of a cause. If you have an idea or would like help developing a concept for something fun to sponsor during SnowFest, contact the SnowFest office at 583-7167 or info@tahoesnowfestival.com.
