Truckee Tahoe Airport reorganizing chain of command

TRUCKEE, Calif. — With the recent departures of Truckee Tahoe Airport General Manager Dave Gotschall and Assistant General Manager Michael Scott, the district is altering its organizational structure.

The two managers left separately for positions at Reno Tahoe International Airport, leaving Director of Operations and Maintenance Phred Stoner as the interim general manager. The board also retained firm Ralph Anderson and Associates to help in the search for a new general manager, according to a press release.

But instead of replacing the assistant general manager position as well, the board decided to create a new position — director of aviation/community relations — to be filled by Kevin Bumen, current noise and business operations specialist, according to the release.

“We recognized Kevin's ability and decided to provide him with a lot of responsibility and opportunity,” said Board President Bill Quesnel.

Bumen will be responsible for property and land management, as well as communications, Quesnel said.

That position will be replaced with an environmental specialist, to be filled internally, who will work directly under Bumen on noise and safety issues, as well as Waddle Ranch management, Quesnel said.

District Controller Jane Dykstra will become director of finances and administration with similar financial responsibilities, with the addition of human resources, Quesnel said.

And Stoner will continue as director of operations and maintenance once a permanent general manager is hired, according to the release.
