TRUCKEE — Dragonfly will host Ted Owens and his right-winged man Matt Wellise for a Guest Chef evening Friday, Nov. 20 beginning at 5:30 p.m. Owens will set to work in the Dragonfly kitchen serving up his dishes fair and balanced, while Wellise will delight diners by dragging out his fresh road kill.

This highly energized and relentless team will build their culinary creations from the ground up, with a special menu inspired by the celebrity Ted Nugent, and his “Kill It & Grill It” cookbook. Diners will be offered a hot-air special that includes a six-course meal for $50. Or guests can enjoy a salad, appetizer or sushi combined with an entrée and dessert for $36. The Ted Owens Guest Chef menu includes:

• Soup: Sign of the Times

• Sushi Special: Liberal-Conservative Roll

• Appetizer: Matt's Ford Truck Road Kill with black top beef and blood oranges

• Salad: The Hunter-Gatherer Salad with grilled venison flank steak and a watercress salad topped with pomegranate and a shitake vinaigrette

• Entrée: Gini's Scrap Pile Cedar Plank Roasted Salmon

• Dessert options: The Government Affair with red, white and blueberry sorbets or a Unification Special that includes raspberry, blueberry and pear sorbets.

All Owens and crew Guest Chef menu items will be offered a la carte. The full Dragonfly menu will also be available. Reservations are recommended, as guest chef evenings usually fill the house.

Dinner at Dragonfly is served from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Dragonfly is located upstairs at 10118 Donner Pass Road, right in the heart of downtown Truckee. Call Dragonfly at 587-0557 to reserve your table for this special evening of fun and schmoozing.
