TRUCKEE, Calif. — With an audience full of family members watching, Carolyn Wallace Dee was unanimously voted in Thursday as Truckee's new mayor.
Truckee Town Council also unanimously elected Richard Anderson into the vice-mayor position after council member Joan Jones declined the nomination. Outgoing Mayor Mark Brown was presented with a plaque and thanked for his time service.
“Thank you for your leadership — it will be hard to follow,” Dee said.
“You've had a wonderful demeanor on the dais and have been a wonderful listener,” Anderson said.
Former mayor Maia Schneider commented on Truckee's method of rotating through mayors on the council.
“This is as close as we come to an inauguration,” Schneider said. “Thanks to all five of you for your commitment to the town and the quality of work that you do.”
Brown reflected on his time as mayor.
“I'd like to thank everyone who voted for me — I wish everyone had the chance to sit up here and learn about local government,” Brown said.
