Some men build castles and skyscrapers — Bill Kelly built a family. Dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, son, friend, and best friend to his life-long partner he will deeply be missed. Bill was born March 7, 1949, in Toledo, Ohio and lived there until 2005 when he moved to Lake Tahoe, California, where he passed unto the stars on Tuesday, March 23. Bill spent the last five years of his life as a strong root to the family tree supporting his children to build Kelly Brothers Painting, Inc. and helped in the raising of his five grandchildren.
Bill was a graduate of Rogers High School, Toledo, Ohio, 1967. He spent two years in the army during 1968-1970. In 1971 he married Deborah Miles. They had four children, all surviving their father — Bill, Kevin, Jill and Erin. His children went on to partner with wonderful people and he accepted them into his family like his own children — Jenn Banid, wife of Bill; Sally Caruthers, wife of Kevin; and Jade Lipinski, husband to Jill. The light that filled Bill's life to over capacity was the addition of his beautiful grandchildren — Gaven, Kailea, Miles, Lylah Moon and Paxton.
Operator of his family's retail grocery business, Kelly's IGA Foodliner for over 30 years, he was the neighborhood grocer. Bill and family were residents of Monclova, Ohio, where he crafted and built the family home in the woods. In his spare time he was the family man taking his family and friends camping to the Outer Banks, golfing and gathering around for many good times. His love for his kids' activities found him coaching sports and chauffeuring them to numerous activities. He made us all laugh with his ever present pranks.
Loved brother to his surviving sisters Sharon Kelly and Laura Kelly; uncle to Jason Modlin, and his family Hope, Kaleb and Devon; and son of Marion and Bill Kelly.
A memorial service will be at the home of Kevin Kelly on Friday, March 26, at 5:30 p.m. Jill Lipinksi will be having a memorial service in Toledo at a later date. Any condolences can be sent in memory to the Creekside School “Souper Bowl Event” at Earthtree2@hotmail.com.
