TRUCKEE, Calif. — The Truckee Sunrise Rotary Club will hold the 2nd Annual Truckee Chili Cookoff at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 27 at the Truckee Regional Park.
This community fundraiser will provide a day of inexpensive family fun with chili tasting, non-stop entertainment, food and beverages and a host of activities for adults and children alike.
Building on last year's successful event, there will be more chili, more food, more quality microbrews, more entertainment and more fun.
The area's best chili cooks will compete for top honors in these categories: Restaurants, Nonprofits and Individuals plus Best Overall. In addition, a People's Choice award will recognize the chili garnering the most votes from attendees and there will be an award for best cooking team theme.
A panel of area dignitaries will judge the chili and make the awards.
All proceeds benefit Truckee-North Tahoe programs addressing the needs of youth, economically disadvantaged and elderly. The Truckee Sunrise Rotary Club has been supporting the community since 1993.
Admission with unlimited chili tasting will be $10 for adults and free for children under 12 accompanied by an adult. Tickets will be available around the Truckee area, from any Rotarian, at the event and online at www.TruckeeChiliCookoff.org.
If you or your firm wishes to make a contribution to your community, sponsorships are still available. Visit www.TruckeeChiliCookoff.org or contact Bryan Pierce at 587-6096 or truckeedoc@sbcglobal.net.
There are still spaces for cooking teams. There is no charge to contestants for a guaranteed good time. For more information about how to participate in this amazing event contact Paul Duggan at (530) 387-8131 or info@TruckeeChiliCookoff.org.
