The North Tahoe and Sparks boys' soccer teams played to a 1-1 tie in a Northern 3A Sierra League game Thursday at Sparks.
“I see it as a win for us,” North Tahoe head coach Beto Alcaraz told the Daily Sparks Tribune after the game. “A lot of our players were getting hurt and we don't have a lot of depth, so to get the tie was good. I'm very happy with our performance. We held them off and kind of withstood the heat. Sparks is a good team, but we were right there.”
North Tahoe fell behind, 1-0, on a goal by Hector Hernandez in the 65th minute. But the Lakers answered right back, as senior midfielder Sergio Arellano scored the equalizer just 10 minutes later.
Lakers senior Freddy Ramirez held the Railroader offense in check at goalkeeper.
