GES thanks Truckee for Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF support
Glenshire Elementary students know every penny counts! With the help of the Truckee community, hard-working students raised $1,766.97 in donations to UNICEF, the international children's foundation. Glenshire Elementary would like to thank the people of Truckee for helping its students carry out their annual Trick-or Treat for UNICEF tradition and reinforcing the idea that small communities can make a big difference. An additional thanks to the Glenshire General Store and Mountain Kids for accepting donations on behalf of the school.— Glenshire Elementary School
Blessed in Truckee
We are blessed to be a part of such a wonderful community that has the ability to come together and truly help a family in need. The following local businesses collaborated beyond belief and were able to provide a local family with a computer and internet access which afforded them the ability to communicate with each other during a time when they were separated during the holidays due to a serious family illness. Due to the generosity of the staff members at Truckee Elementary School, we were able to provide Christmas gifts for the children as well. Thanks you Jeff Sparksworthy of Computer Consulting, Carl LeBlanc of Freshline Computers, Lake Tahoe Online, Game Stop, Sierra Tech Center. This is the true meaning of being part of the community.

Kudos from Truckee Optimist
Once again, the Truckee Optimist Club successfully raised significant profits through our annual Christmas tree sales. All of the proceeds from these sales will be used for scholarships and numerous sports and education programs for our youth. This endeavor would not have been possible without the ongoing support and generosity of Save Mart Supermarkets. Their generous donation of parking space in their shopping center made possible our successful endeavor. Save Mart Supermarkets has a credo of “giving back to their communities” and this was a vivid display of that corporate belief and their effort to truly be a part of the community in which they do business. CVS Drugs has been a sponsor and friend of our tree sales for many years and we would like to also thank them for their support. Furthermore, we would like to thank Truckee Tahoe Propane, Village Pizzeria and the Tahoe-Truckee Disposal Company for their generosity. We would also like to extend our deepest appreciation to our customers and the numerous individuals who have given their time to make this program successful. — Blair Davison, president
Resort at Squaw hosts chorus
Over the holidays, the Truckee Elementary Cub Chorus was invited to sing Christmas carols at the Resort at Squaw Creek. After we sang for half an hour, we were treated to free hot chocolate and free ice skating. Our chorus was thrilled and had a wonderful time singing and playing afterward. As if this weren't enough, the Resort at Squaw Creek also gave our program a financial donation. We feel like royalty and are extremely grateful for the special treatment. Thank you Resort at Squaw Creek for making us feel so important.Sincerely,
Mrs. Jan Sturtevant and the Cub Chorus
Family Huizenga says thank you
The family of Kirk Huizenga would like to thank everyone for their prayers and kindness they expressed during our difficult time, especially Reverend Ed Hilton for his comforting words. You are all very special people. God bless all of you.— Olga Huizenga
