TRUCKEE/TAHOE, Calif. — The voters have approved a seven-year, $4 million annual renewal of the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District's Measure A parcel tax, albeit by the very slim margin of just 1 percentage point.
According to unofficial results from Nevada, Placer and El Dorado counties finalized late Tuesday, Measure A was approved with a 67.68 percent majority vote. The parcel tax required a two-thirds majority from registered voters in the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District to pass — or 66.67 percent.
With the approval, Measure A will cost taxpayers $135 per year (up from $98) and generate an estimated $4 million annually to fund various TTUSD programs and jobs for seven straight years, starting with the 2012-13 school year, once the current measure expires.
