Annual Tahoe-Truckee tradition: Eyewear donations sought

Each year at Truckee-Tahoe, Halloween season and local eyewear donations go hand in hand.

Each year at Truckee-Tahoe, Halloween season and local eyewear donations go hand in hand.

For 10 years, the Gogain Group of Dickson Realty, in cooperation with One Sight and Lions Clubs International, has been spearheading an annual local drive to collect used eyewear.

With your help, our community has proudly delivered thousands of pair of glasses. Our contributions, combined with similar drives across the nation, have translated into eyewear for millions of needy people across the globe.

And the great news is that none of this has cost anyone a penny. This is a local “feel good” endeavor that comes from the heart … and not the wallet.

It is a wonderful feeling to get rid of unneeded items and know that they are going to support a great cause. The single pair of glasses that you contribute joins the trickle, stream, river and then flood of goodwill that is felt worldwide.

The Gogain Group will be accepting donations throughout the month of October at the following drop-off locations in Tahoe Donner, Truckee, Squaw Valley and Kings Beach:

DICKSON REALTY-Main: 11836 Donner Pass Road, Truckee

DICKSON REALTY-Donner Lake: 15947 South Shore Drive, Truckee

TAHOE DONNER’S TROUT CREEK RECREATION CENTER: 12790 Northwoods Blvd., Truckee

ALICE’S MOUNTAIN MARKET: The Village in Squaw Valley

PLACER COUNTY LIBRARY: 301 Secline St., Kings Beach
