TRUCKEE, Calif. – Arts in Wellness announces two events in downtown Truckee during the first week in April. On Friday, April 5, Riverside Studios will host an artists reception for the Arts in Wellness art show which will run through the month of April. On Saturday, April 6, For Goodness Sake will host the workshop “The Wisdom of the Chakras” co-facilitated by Arts in Wellness Founder and Program Director Susie Alexander and Barbara Ricotta, RN, L.Ac.

“We are so excited and absolutely delighted to be having our first-ever art show at Riverside Studios,” said Alexander. “Arts in Wellness was founded as a community art studio for artists and non-artists alike and we’ll be displaying artwork that was produced in the studio by artists of all ages and experience levels. We’re really excited to be featuring several artists, including Ann Huisman, who began painting in the studio as part of her journey from cancer to wellness.”

Paintings, prints, cards, T-shirts and scarves will be available for purchase during the reception. This is a benefit art show with proceeds of art sales going directly to Arts in Wellness. The reception is part of Truckee ‘First Fridays’ and Riverside Studios will provide free music, drinks and appetizers from 4 to 8 p.m. Arts in Wellness will accept donations during the event — consider bringing paints, brushes, canvases, etc.

Arts in Wellness will co-host the workshop “The Wisdom of the Chakras” at For Goodness Sake on Saturday, April 6, 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Susie Alexander and Barbara Ricotta will co-facilitate this experiential workshop which will include movement, meditation, journaling and painting. “There is so much information held within each chakra; understanding this can help us navigate and understand our individual journeys at a profound level,” said Ricotta, a longtime meditator, yoga and healing arts practitioner. No experience is necessary and all materials are supplied; bring a lunch snack. Suggested donation is $30.
