Youth Suicide Prevention Task Force meeting
Join the first meeting of the Youth Suicide Prevention Task Force on Thursday, May 16, noon-1:30 p.m. at the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District Office. Review what’s been done to date around youth suicide prevention and brainstorm ways of increasing impact and reach. Revolution Athletics to host free self-defense classes
April is sexual assault awareness month and Truckee’s Revolution Athletics Training Center is partnering with Tahoe SAFE Alliance to offer free self-defense classes. These free one-hour classes will promote personal safety, increase individual confidence, create awareness of one’s surroundings. On Friday, April 26, 5:30-6:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 27, 10:30-11:30 a.m., females ages 13 and older are encouraged to take part in these active and informative workshops. The workshops are free, but donations will be accepted on behalf of Tahoe SAFE Alliance. Reservations are required. Located in Truckee at 11357 C. Deerfield Drive behind Bill’s Rotisserie. Pilates at the CR Johnson Healing Center
Pilates instructor since 1999, Tina Cook is working with clients full time at the CR Johnson Healing Center on the new Balanced Body Pilates equipment. Wanderlust to return
North Lake Tahoe announced the Wanderlust Festival, the world’s largest and fastest growing yoga and music festival, will return for a fifth year to Squaw Valley Thursday, July 18 through Sunday, July 21.
In addition to yoga and live music, attendees will enjoy organic food and wine, an inspirational speaker program, meditation and outdoor activities, such as paddle boarding, hiking, biking, and running. The yogis teaching and speaking are considered rock stars of the discipline and include Seane Corn, Shiva Rea, Dharma Mittra, Rod Stryker, Gurumkh Kaur Khalsa, Schuyler Grant and more.

American for Safe Access meet
Americans for Safe Access (ASA) announces the expansion of the Nevada County chapter of the national organization into the Truckee area. The meetings will be held on the second Saturday of the month in the Truckee-Donner Community Recreation Center Conference Room.
ASA is the largest national member-based organization of patients, medical professionals, scientists, and concerned citizens who support cannabis for therapeutic use and scientific research. The organization works on the local, state, and federal levels to promote laws that protect patients rights. ASA membership provides access to resources designed for budding activists. Founded in 2002 by Steph Sherer, Americans for Safe Access strives to overcome political and legal barriers to medical cannabis by using a multifaceted approach that incorporates public education, grassroots activism, and media campaigns. Truckee-Donner Recreation & Park District has opened their indoor climbing walls for public use on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays, 5:30-8 p.m. Try your skills on their 29-foot wall, equipped with automatic belays, routes from 5.5 to 5.12 and a separate bouldering wall. Problems VB-V6. Drop in fees are $6 with shoe rentals for $3 and harnesses for $2.
