Tahoe Yoga & Wellness to host ‘Day of Healing’ event

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. — My neck hurt. I had headaches. I wanted it to go away.
When I came in for treatment, Dr. Paul asked me to sit and breathe. He put his hands on my spine, shoulders, rib cage, observing my breathing and alignment. After a few corrections, he focused on my waistline, finding an old surfing injury caused by a powerful wave slamming me into a backbend. It took months to heal, but it wasn’t aggravating me so I had forgotten about it. “This is something you live with,” I thought.
It was an unconscious belief: injuries leave their mark on you.
“Right here,” Dr. Paul said, indicating the exact vertebra which had been injured. He moved it, massaged it, left me to ponder what had happened there and why I had left it unattended all these years. “It’s scar tissue,” he continued, “A bruised bone … the soft tissue around it has been compensating and holding it together … let’s heal the bone, shall we?”
Yes, by all means, let’s heal that bone … and we did. When I stood up to leave, he asked me, “How’s your neck?”
“Huh?” I was a bit dazed. “What are you talking about?”
“Your neck. You came in for neck pain. How does it feel?”
“Oh,” I had completely forgotten about my neck. “It’s fine. I mean, the pain is completely gone.” He had adjusted my wrists and waistline, he had never touched my neck. How did he take away the pain and why was there so much space there now?
“Wonderful,” Dr. Paul said simply. He did not share my surprise.
“Symptoms often clear up or simply disappear when the nervous system is rebalanced,” he said. I felt very, very good.
Dr. Paul sees it every day — all the time, every time. People walk away healed.
Did everyone experience what I experienced? I started asking a few longtime patients to describe their process with him. Michael Barton, a San Francisco attorney, described his process with Dr. Paul as a wonderful awakening.
“A few years ago, I was a 240-pound, 6-foot 2-inch, 51-year-old with bulging discs, arthritis and other health issues, all of which were documented in MRI scans. After a few treatments with Dr. Paul, I didn’t need to take Advil, my posture improved, and I walked as if I was as light as a feather,” said Barton. “I got more benefit from seeing Dr. Paul for three years, than from all the conventional chiropractors I had seen for 30 years previously.”
Many of his patients described profound experiences in spiritual dimensions. Gabriella Cole, a dancer and student from San Francisco described her emotions, spirit, physicality and life being worked on at the same time. “Dr. Paul uses spiritual and energetic healing in addition to clinical expertise.”
Dr. Paul is a licensed chiropractor and healer who has been practicing for 10 years. He will give treatments at Tahoe Yoga & Wellness on Aug. 10 as part of the Day of Healing event.
